FAQs
Our non-household water saving visits are designed to identify practical and measurable ways to cut water use. Many sites experience challenges such as hidden leaks and outdated water systems, which lead to higher than necessary bills. A tailored efficiency visit helps your business save money, reduce water waste, and lower energy costs.
In the UK, all eligible businesses, charities, and public sector organisations, regardless of the amount of water they use, can choose their retail provider. We operate as a wholesaler in this market. Because of this, we require approval from your Water Retailer before undertaking any water efficiency services on-site.
At the moment, we are only offering this service to schools and other high-water users in our supply area.
Yes. We work closely with retailers to support efficiency initiatives. Retailers are informed and consulted before any business customers are proactively contacted.
We work closely with retailers to help businesses use water more efficiently. Our engagement policy outlines how we collaborate with retailers to share insights, support water-saving initiatives, and provide tailored services. The visit will be carried out by a certified third-party specialist in water efficiency, working directly on behalf of South East Water.
A typical visit can take up to one day, during which assessments and fixes are completed simultaneously. Our teams are highly experienced and work efficiently. The visit will not cause any interruptions to your day-to-day water supply or business activities. If a complex issue requires a temporary supply interruption later on, we will schedule this out of hours at a time suitable for you.
Unless advised otherwise by your site manager, our contractors may install compatible, high-quality water-saving devices. These typically include:
- Tap inserts
- Water-efficient shower heads
- Flush saving devices
- Urinal control systems
The visits are free of charge for businesses and other non-households. Larger or more complex infrastructure projects will be reviewed individually with the site and retailer.
To help your business maintain long-term savings, we provide a post-visit summary report which covers:
- Key findings and identified anomalies
- Potential cost and water savings
- Support data for internal corporate reporting
- Follow-up messaging to engage your staff
Ongoing and future maintenance of any installed devices remains the responsibility of the business site. Our technicians will provide tailored recommendations to prolong the lifespan of the fittings in line with L8 approved codes of practice.
